Disable wallpaper compression

Is it possible to disable the compression applied by the ipad when setting an image as wallpaper? The pictures already loose quality when synced to the ipad.
On my old iPhone I could just replace the jpg image with an png version trough iExplorer, but I don't want to jailbreak just to change the wallpaper.

The pictures already loose quality when synced to the ipad.

You can at least skip this problem by e-mailing it to yourself and then saving it from the e-mail to the camera roll.

That skips the 'iTunes compression' step when you sync photos.

Yeah I checked with iFunbox, I can also replace the images with the original ones. But when I set them as the wallpaper the image gets compressed.
