So I've spent the last hour figuring out what was wrong with my iPhone and why it didn't want to update to 4.0.1

Everytime it did the restore it didn't seem to work and just placed the phone back in DFU mode.

I did notice that Zone Alarm icon in the system tray area was showing alot of activity like my internet was active so I Shut it down and did another restore and everything was flawless. The activity monitor was actually the activity transferring data between the phone and the computer. My Internet was not doing a thing.

Once the phone was recognized it prompted me to restore from my backup which it did and everything is good to go.

So to those that are having a problem and have a firewall software such as Zone Alarm installed... Disable it!

And I use Zone Alarm Free 9.2 and I have an iPhone 3G but I bet this might be a possible solution to the 3GS and 4 if experiencing this problem. And I'm on Windows 7

Just throwing out another suggestion....
