Disabling ipv6 in Mac OS X 10.7.2

i figure OS X 10.7.2 now will automatically obtain ipv6 ip address if your router/ISP supports ipv6, which screws up some of my custom apps

i want to get the good old ipv4 instead...

What custom apps do you use that don't agree with IPv6? Have you searched for an update?

Use "Link-local Only". That should be the same as turning it off.

ok, i can get it disabled

by running in Terminal:

networksetup -listallnetworkservices
networksetup -setv6off Ethernet

The NSA (in its Hardening Tips for Default Installation of Mac OS X 10.5) recommends that IPv6 be turned off, if the user doesn't need it. I really appreciate these UNIX commands... thanks.

I believe he was referring to system preferences>network>advanced>configure iPv6. There is no "off" option there.
