You know whenever you start up your macbook pro it makes a start up sound.

Is there anyway to disable that?

The program says it applies to PowerPC models, are you sure it works with Intel models?

Or you can simply mute the laptop's speakers before shutting down, that'll also work.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

Get rid of the apple bong!

I don't usually mind the start-up sound however, sometimes its quite loud.

I was actually starting it up once and I discovered an easy way to mute the sound. As soon as you press the power button on the MBP and the LED light turns on, press and hold the mute volume key (the one with none of those wave thingys), when you see a grey screen or the hard drive/superdrive tick; you no long have to hold the button.

I believe its referred to by Apple as the Startup Chime.

I rather like it and never feel embarrassed when it plays but to each his/her own. :)

Though, I wish they would have updated the chime when they moved from PPC to Intel. Perhaps even as they updated their models as they did in times gone by.

Of course, the coolest thing would be to be able to insert your own chime...now that would rock.
