Does anybody now if there is a terminal script or a setting I am missing that will let me close the cover on my Macbook Pro without having it sleep. I want to use an external display, wireless mouse and wireless keyboard, but I want to close the cover. i can't seem to find if out if this is possible and how to achieve it. Thanks,

<from the manual>

You cannot have MBP closed lid mode without an external power source connected (unless you use third party utilities but the name escapes me, if that is what you are looking for)

If it is plugged up, simply close the display and once it has gone to sleep, power it back up with a keystroke (bluetooth or wired).

That's the way I plan on using mine. I might leave it open though. Does anybody have any suggestions on what mode to use?

No scripts, no terminal, it just works!

If the keyboard is Bluetooth you must enable in Preferences. Other than that connect display shut laptop then shake mouse or press key. Magic.
