Disappearing Dock

From time to time (about 3 times a month) my dock disappears!
I have to turn hiding off to access it.
And magnification doesn´t work then either.
This happens in my eyes totally at random.
To access the menus also (for example system preferences) i need to hold down my mouse button for the items to be highlited.

A logout or restart won´t help.

I need to shut down and start up again.

to restart the dock without shutting down, try going into terminal and typing:

killall Dock

Try repairing permissions...(in disk utility)
