I had something really strange happen on my 2017 13 inch MacBook Pro yesterday that has me quite concerned. The first indicator of something amiss happened when I opened an app called nvALT (a text note keeping program). It informed me that several notes were missing and asked me if I wanted to restore them from. That was odd, but I assumed it was some sort of hiccup in the app. I went ahead and restored and went about my business.

A little later in the day, I opened up iTunes and noticed that all my playlists and a bunch of my music was gone. Digging around I discovered that the iTunes Library.xml file was missing from my iTunes folder. I restored that file from a Time Machine backup from a few days ago and iTunes came back up with everything there, but now I am quite concerned about what seems to be randomly disappearing files. I have a LOT of files on my machine, and so I am not sure if other things have disappeared that I might not notice for a while. I ran first aid in Disk Utility and it found no errors. I did some Google searching, but didn't really find anything similar. I'm curious if anyone has any ideas what could have happened?
