Disappearing movies in iMovie HD?

Hi all, not sure how I did this, under OS 10.4:

I started recording a movie from my MacBook's iSight camera. I locked the screen with a shortcut (my screensaver is password-protected) and then I walked away for a few minutes. When I came back and logged back in, somehow I lost the movie. It simply disappeared. It wasn't even in the trash.

I haven't been able to replicate this problem.

I'd really like to know what I did, so I can avoid this problem in the future!
