I cant figure out where the downloads are going. In Safari Preferences, it's set to have the
downloads go inside Finder in a folder called "Downloads," but the only thing in there is a GIF
I downloaded. I searched in the Documents folder, but the downloads are not there either.

What do I type into Spotlight to find a PDF?

The name of the pdf file you downloaded.

EDIT: How are you saving the PDF files exactly? Opening them within safari and then saving them, or right clicking and saving-as?

If I click on a PDF link, it immediately starts downloading. I don't get the menu
widow that asks me if I want to save to disk like in OS 10.3. This is weird.

I've found that some PDFs will open in the browser, while others will download straight away. If you try a selection of PDFs from different web sites, do you always get the same behaviour?

Also, have you installed adobe reader? This installs a plugin that overrides Apple's preview plugin, so this might be giving you problems.

I think I figured it out: The PDF's were being opened for viewing without actually being downloaded. After I got through viewing the PDF, I clicked on the previous page button and then I saw an Adobe icon with the option to download the file. I went ahead and downloaded the file and it went into the Download folder like it's supposed to.

Thank you all for your help. :)
