Disappearing Signal Bars

I was wondering if anyone had tips for this:

I constantly get 4-5 bars on my cellular signal,yet I've noticed that at times, the bars will completely disappear for about half a second, then reappear. While this has not affected my web browsing, i still have to try video calling and have not had too many phone calls to see a negative effect.

Is this a normal thing to see? Is the phone switching between the two antennas?
