My phone is about 2 months old in 9 days and find the screen coating is gone. I hope Apple will fix this. Really annoying in movies or dark screens

You can't see whether the oleophobic coating exists or not. That mark on the glass is something else

Post a pic. We don’t know what you’re talking about.
If GSP stands for glass screen protector, I’ve never understood why people use those. Yeah, after a year plus, I’ll have hairline scratches but they’re only visible under very very direct light. And most protectors looks terrible from what I’ve seen in person

OP: Is it possible to take a pic of the smudge?

I get those smudges every now and then. I'll think I wiped it off until the light hits it right. I just use a damp paper towel then a micro fiber cloth to get rid of the water smears. If I use just a micro fiber cloth it doesn't wipe off (easily anyway).

It's insurance. No one out there thinks "Gee, I think I'll break my phone next week". They get one in case they do. The same reason people purchase auto insurance, health insurance, extended warranties, etc. If the unexpected didn't happen, we wouldn't need insurance. But that's not how life works. I've owned a 3G, 4, 5, 6+, X and XS Max. Never had a problem until I did. Now I have an XS Max with a cracked screen (and it DID have the screen protector). My first broken screen ever. But I've busted enough screen protectors over the years to feel like I've dodged the bullet more than a few times.

Generally curious, how do you know the Oleophobic coating is ‘gone’. It doesn’t just wear off within nine days, did you apply any type of alcohol solution to the display or cleanser.

FYI, they actually make ‘coating kits’ that you can reapply the Oleophobic if you wanted to. [Fusso is a decent Product available on Amazon]

If applied well, it’s actually hard to spot a screen protector.

For some people, screen protectors are a must. My mum recently dropped her iPhone but because I’d installed a screen protector, only that cracked and not her screen. She’d rather pay £3 for a new protector than god knows how much it would’ve been to replace the screen on an iPhone 6 Plus.

I said it’s 2 months old in 9 days. I got it December 10th.

It’s $140 to replace a screen on the 6 plus. I know because I broke my 6 plus 5 times 2 of them covered by Apple care thank god. The reason why I got a 7 then a x and 11 pro.

Modern tempered glass screen protectors applied carefully to a new screen using an alignment frame really look pretty good, although I feel they must have some effect on touch functionality. Back in 2015 I got a screen scratch on my unprotected 1st generation Moto G and since then I've always used a protector on my phones.

Well I got a chance to go to the Apple store and they changed the screen for me. Hopefully this last longer.
