Hi,

I have a super fast Tb2 Little Big Disk2 with 2x512GB SSD inside.

Right now I‘m using it on a trashcan Mac Pro as a cache Drive for After Effects and Lightroom, but I have the New Mac Pro on order and am thinking it would be nice to consolidate my devices.

Does anybody know if it would be possible to remove those SSDs somehow from the device and put them on a NVMe card inside The Mac Pro?

I already tried to open it but after removing the enclosure I didnt dare to venture forward any further because it looked pretty heavily screwed together.. In this video it surely looks possible:

What do you guys think? Heat might also be an issue? The LBD is actively cooled with a fan because it‘s a Raid 0 and super fast..

If they’re NVMe’s they’ll probably work but why not just get a TB3 to 2 adapter and use it the way it is?

Because that adapter costs like 60 € (already had to buy another one for my promise raids) and I was thinking to consolidate a bit. Would be nice to have that inside the machine if a NVMe card is cheaper... How to find out if they are?
