hey guys, im going to try making a nice custom ipod. I have it all disassembled but wanted to know how to remove the buttons and trackpad from the front and remove the outer plastic layer if at all possible, any ideas how?

yeah nothing how to remove the buttons and scroll wheel

I'm pretty sure macworld (the magazine) just put out an article in the past couple months on how to dissasemble an iPod Mini. That should give you some clues on how to take yours apart.

It was on of the latest MacAddict's and they said that removing the scroll wheel was a bad idea. I don't know how it would work with the different form factor of the regular iPod though.

I've totally disassembled my original iPod, and you cannot remove the scroll wheel and buttons very easily (in fact, I think that you can't without breaking the buttons off). I wouldn't do it if I were you, but good luck if you can.
