So this is an interesting one.

If I have a disc in the dvd drive when I either turn on my computer or wake it from sleep, the disc will almost always be ejected.

If I then put it back in, it will usually self-eject another 3 or 4 times before it will actually spin up and be recognized by the MBP.

Any ideas?

I had an issue like this on my PC. In my case it turned out to be some dust in the drive prevented it from taking in DVD's so it spat it back out to prevent damage to the drive.

Are you still in applecare? If not, are you able to open up the drive to use some compressed air to clean it out?

It may also be a loose connection on the inside, which could just be a quick fix.

Hope this helps.

I'm still in Applecare, and I need to get some other work done anyway... so I'm going to take it in. I just like trying to figure out what the problem is beforehand anyway.
