Disc goes in Mac Shuts down

Hi I recently had a new optical drive installed by Apple. Because my last one was spitting out blank discs and not keeping them. The new drive worked a bit but now when I insert a DVD or CD either blank, containing media, or a commercial DVD. My MacBook Pro immediately shuts down with out warning.
What should I do here. I dont live close to an Apple store so I cant very easily take it to the Genius Bar and get it replaced.

You have to take it back to an apple store for a replacement.

This is a non user serviceable issue!

Definitely take it back to an Apple Store, they did not fix it correctly.

Was there supposed to be a comma somewhere there? Or should I think about this a little more?
