i installed VLC player, and it has taken control of some file extensions which i am always using for mounting images. *.bin in particular.

what program used to mount the files. right now, VLC is the default program, and there aren't any other that come to mind besides disk utility [which didn't do the trick]

thanks.

i tried to change the default for programming before i posted. didn't work.

the thing is, finder used to mount the image when i double clicked. similar to iso images. now since i installed vlc, i don't know how to change it back to defaults.

ok, so i changed the file name to xxxxxxxxxx.ISO and tried to open, the icon changed, but it wouldn't work. however, i checked info and it is opened using a program called DiskImageMounter. spotlight tells me that there's no such program on my computer called this, but i can mounter other iso images.

does anyone know how i can change the settings to make my .BIN files open with DiskImageMounter?

ok, so now i did find diskimagemounter.

it's located in /System/Library/CoreServices/DiskImageMounter.app

i cannot select it as a default app to open images. hmpf, i do not now what to do.
