Disconnect Mobile or Private Internet Access

Could use some guidance.

I've been offered a limited period free trial of Disconnect Mobile Premium. I have been using PIA for the past year without issues.

I enjoy Disconnect's feature of being always on, whereas PIA requires that I toggle the feature throughout the day.

I could use feedback on the effectiveness of disconnect as a VPN in ensuring the privacy of my data (or if there is a way to configure PIA to be always on as is disconnect).
