Kind of sad Apple discontinued the leather smart case for the iPad mini. I always liked that case.

Rushing to get one while they're still in stores isn't a good option for people interested in buying an iPad mini 4, given the thickness decrease.

The silicon front + silicon back option Apple is pushing is a weak alternative too.

Yep, I was checking out the accessories for the mini and the leather smart cases are missing. That new silicon backshell is kind of expensive.

It sucks they're discounting them — it likely costs them far more than what they were getting back.

However, FWIW, the silicon cases Apple puts out offers superior drop protection than the leather models. There's that at least.
