I bought an iphone in Oct. Signed up for AT&T 2 months ago, sold the iphone, never activated on AT&T. If I activate my friends iphone and use it for a week, will I qualify for upgrade eligibility? Per AT&T if you purchased a gen 1 iphone before 7-11 you qualify, and I did, but I never activated it. Thoughts?

so just to recap make sure i understand this

1. purchased iPhone in Oct, never signed up for service
2. sold iPhone
3. signed up for service 2 months ago and received subsidy for different phone

if the above is true, then you probably won't qualify, you took the subsidy already

That is correct.

By those rules, no. But, the AT&T site clearly states that anyone who bought a 1st generation iphone before 7-11 qualifies. So I guess my question is this. Can AT&T see that I bought an iphone in their system qualifying me?

well i don't see how they see that in the system when you never activated and committed to a 2 year with it
