There has been an issue with Aperture and FCE for a while now. Apple released a combo update that was supposed to fix the issue. However, the OS on the new MacBook Pros is higher than the combo update. The Apple Support person conferred with engineering and they decided that they will need to issue a fix for this as part of an update.
I can either reinstall the OS and get the files back which have been overwritten by the FCE install or just use Aperture in 32 bit mode until a fix is issued.
