discreet graphic card monitor and on/off manually?

I am not getting mbp 15 till wed so I cannot do this but it looks like new mbp 15 inch and ups are having some discreet graphic card being turn on unnecessarily.

Has anyone used below? Wondering if this will help in anyway.

If no one has, I will test it out and post results once I get my mbp ...
