when i switch my rMBP on gfx states its using the 650M then about 20 seconds switches to the internal HD4000.
is there away to find out what is triggering the 650 at startup

Afaik the macs always boot with the dGPU. Cannot change that I think. It is just that the EFI defaults to the dGPU. So does Windows btw.
