Discrete GPU Issue still unresolved on MBP 2010

Just updated to OS X Mavericks
was really hoping the update will resolve the discrete GPU issues on MBP 2010s.

apps like Twitter, Wunderlist still toggle discrete GPU use on the MBP :/

Have you considered doing a fresh install via USB? Assuming you haven't just been updating over operating systems since 10.8.3.

This really made me very sad. I was still running 10.7 and forgot all about the discrete issue in 10.8.3 and went ahead and installed 10.9. As soon as a window opens, the nvidia chip kicks in. The laptop becomes incredibly hot and battery is being drained.

10.9 is unusable like this and I wanted to go back to 10.7, but the app store won't let me download it Now I'm stuck with 10.6, which came on dvd with the machine.

hmm. that's the last option.. but it seems that the issue is something that a fresh install potentially could not resolve
