So the news is out, AMD has bought ATI for a whopping total of $5.4 billion. The real question is now... how is thing going to affect Apple. For most of Apple's modern laptop and iMac GPU concerns they've always gone to ATI.

But now Intel, Apple's new supplier of CPUs (and other items) is irritated and has dropped licensing for ATI motherboards and hardware in the future. Does this mean Apple will have to abandon ATI and move to an all Intel and nVidia solution?

This recent news does have a lot of weight on Apple and its future.

What do you think? Any chance this will affect the Mac Pros and other Macs?

can amd really handle a purchase like that? that's quite a bit of borrowing from the bank to buy a company that large.
