so, ive been hearing some say you can use it, other say you can't.

so whats the deal here. and why?

just out of curiosity :)
 
Not guaranteed to work with anything other than Air. For e.g. it didn't work on my 2010 17".

thanks! can anyone clarify?

as far as I know, you can't use it plug and play....

after doing some research i could find 2 ways to use it:

1. Hold down the alt/option key on startup.....even if you choose your standard system disk, the drive will be usable until you disconnect or restart without holding down the key mentioned above.

2. you have to change the ide -> usb bridge....but honestly......nope....


I could not try it myself as my new MBP hasn't arrived yet. I've got a superdrive here to try and i'll do that as soon as possible.

probably somebody else could confirm the 2 ways I pointed out above?
