Finally a "real" RPG for the ps3, only it's really for the ps2. High res backgrounds and character art, sure, but if you zoom in at all the sprites get blocky as heck and the sound is actually output in STEREO. Even if it really is stereo there's no excuse for my receiver to actually display that. The blocky sprites should have been an option for nostalgia's sake. They allow you to choose a "blur" effect but they're still blocky.

I'm horribly disappointed. The game may or may not be that great (Disgaea 1 was great, but after that I got bored of the genre) but I'll probably never find out because I can't stand looking at it or listening to it. I guess it goes in the collector's pile.

At least it was $10 cheaper than a real game. The bottom line is that I'm not really a graphics whore, I don't care if the graphics are 2d or 3d or whatever. I prefer 2d actually. All I want is to play games with a minimal amount of jagged edges, and there's no excuse with the power of a ps3 to not have nicely detailed sprites. Also, objects the sprites interact with in cut scenes are jagged (on top of high-res backgrounds) and when the screen scrolls, you can see the sprites hopping between pixels! It looks (and feels) like crap.

On a side note, I haven't touched my Wii in months and have considered selling it on several occasions. I really want to play the Symphonia sequel, though, and that's why I keep it. Also, I bought a 360 for blue dragon (which I like) and Tales of Vesperia which will arrive tomorrow. Halo 3 disappointed me with its low res and lack of AA. I couldn't believe how horrible it looked. I guess MGS4 spoiled me. At least I can brag my fiancee beat it on legendary mode. :D
