iPad Dish Anywhere app blocked on network. Looking for a way around it.

I have Dish Anywhere app. My school network blocks it, does anyone have an idea how i can get around them blocking the ports the app uses? I have a vpn but its too slow and I think proxies only let you use port 80. about a week ago I switched HTTP Proxy from off to manual and entered 443 into the port just for kicks and the app worked. 5 min later http proxy was switched back to off and I havent been able to recreate. Any Ideas?
