I have a 12 inch Powerbook from two and a half years ago (I'm not sure of the exact model or version type). Yesterday I turned it on and it started up as usual, and then once all startup programs finished loading, I plugged in an iSight camera. I have used iSight on my computer before without any problems, but I was using it before I installed iChax, which I installed a while ago and haven't had any issues with. When iChat started up automatically with plugging in the iSight camera, a pop-up window came up and said that there was an update for iChax and then my computer froze (with the rainbow pinwheel turning, I could still move the cursor but everything else was stuck). After waiting for it to calm down for several minutes I decided to reboot.
The startup sound chimed, and then the apple logo came up, but led to a black terminal screen with a white rectangle at the very top left corner. It then changed and read "disk error" and then went back to the rectangle which began to rapidly blink. I have restarted multiple times and I still get the same black screen with white rectangle and "disk error" message. Any ideas as to what happened and what I can do to fix this, please?
