Hi,

so I ran disk utility and checked my hard drive: Machintosh HD. It said I have file to much, and a volumedirectory to less. I also said I have to repair my volume: Machintosh HD.

So, how do I do this, and what will I lose. I said something about an instal disk (which I have), but that leads my to believe it will reset my whole macbook and I will lose my apps and data. (I don't want to instal office 2011 again with those instal codes that never work:p)

Will I lose my data and how does the repairing with the instal disk work?

Thanks!

in order to repair your boot drive, you need to boot from the install DVD that came with your machine.

see the yellow box in this user tip for detailed instructions.

if that doesn't help, see the pink box.
