I am trying to erase some CD-RWs I have. None of them are more than a month or two old. When I tried to erase the disc using Disk Utility I received the following error:

Optical Erase failed with the error:

Optical Erase Failed

It turns out that this is happening with all of the media of this type that I purchased. (imation CD-RW 700MB 1x-4x) Anybody else had problems with this media?

I looked around and couldn't find any similar problems. (Other than "How do I burn a CD-RW"). I am selecting the drive itself, which is what all of the instructions I have looked at say to do. Any thoughts?

Unmount is required before erasing

I figured out how to get it to work. I had to unmount the volume before attempting to erase. I'm not sure if this is true for all types of CD-RW's, or just mine. The step of unmounting the disk is definitely not mentioned in the Mac Help topic about this.
