Disk Utility help and changing burn location

Well i'm trying to burn a disk image onto a DVD-DRL using disk utilities. I get everything all into disk utility and the blank cd is there and the DMG. When i select burn and the burn options comes down, It only allows me to burn to the super drive and not to the blank DVD. I tried going along and just burning it to the SuperDrive and it didn't work. Is there anyway i can burn it right to the dvd since i'm not supposed to burn to superdrive

Q1: Is your blank DVD disc inserted into THE SuperDrive ? If so, you do select the drive as it's the drive that does the burning.

Q2: Or do you have a second DVD burner attached to your Mac?

Q3: When you say "It didn't work", what happens? Do you get an error message? Does it spin the blank DVD and spit it out?

Q4: How big is the dmg file you're attempting to burn?

Q5: Is the DVD blank a DVD-R/DL ? or just a DVD-R ?

1- yes it is inserted into the super drive

2- no

3- well i burned it to the super drive and it burned and spat it out, i slid it back in and nothing came up

4- it's 6.1 Gbs

5- it's a DVD-R/DL

OK, do you see an icon of the DVD on your desktop? If not, open Disk Utility with the "burnt" DVD inserted and see if you can see it listed in the left hand column

Oh, what is the content of the dmg and how long did it take to burn?
