I have worked in Apple service for literally 15 yeas and I don't understand what they're doing with Disk Utility. It used to be a fairly burly app and recently it protests and fights you more and more to do simple things like restore disk images, heck, create disk images, etc etc Maybe its APFS and that we need some more education on how to make things function properly but I just got through trying to create a back up and restore solution using Disk Utility which would not do ANYTHING to help me, and then ended up with Carbon Copy Cloner (which I have resisted, even though it seems like a great app) which did not give me one spec of protest and completed the tasks beautifully. Any other insights here?
