I do not know why or how that happened and what is even going on but I tried to upgrade to BigSur but the system claims that my volume only has 25 Gb even though I have a 256 GB SSD.

Therefore I checked disk utility and it shows me 1 container "disk1" with 5 volumes

One is "Manuel" and it says 11 GB used and 27 GB available yet the capacity is 240 GB ???
Another one is "Manuel - Data" which shows capacity 240 GB, Available 160 GB and used 198 GB. This makes no sense ... I only have a total of 256 GB in the first place and why are there different volumes anyway?

It seems like upon installation, Big Sur only sees the small "Manuel" volume.

There are also other volumes called "VM" with 2,15 GB and another 2 with 795 mb saying "not activated"

What do I do?

The the size of the APFS 240GB. There are 5 volumes within the container that share the container space. The 11 GB volume is the macOS system volume. The 198 GB volume contains the user data. The 2 GB VM volume is the swap space. The other two volumes are used during the boot process.

The total space of the 5 volumes along with overhead space requirements leaves 27 GB left in the container. The "container" image provides the most accurate information. I don't know why the free space for Manuel - Daten is wrong.
