disk utility quits eveytime i try to erase cd-rw

Hi! Since I have updated to 10.2.8, when I use disk utility to erase a CD-RW, Disk utility unexpectedly quits, however i can stil burn cds. I have used the software disks, and repaired disk permissions etc, but no luck. Anyone have the same problem, and managed to fix it? I will be putting panther on soon.
