Disk Utility won't repair due to Failue to connect to DiskManagementTool

Every time I try to repair my Disk Permissions or Verify it gives me the message "Framework Unable to communicate with DiskManagementTool" and it will not repair the disk. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

The same happened to me. Apparently the trouble started when I decided to downgrade from Lion to Snow Leopard by restoring my Snow Leopard backup made with Carbon Copy Cloner. I have tried to run disk utility from the snow leopard disk but it doesn't fix it. Have you by any chance solved it?
