Disk Utility won't work?

It unexpectadly quits before it even has a chance to open. This is happening on ALL of my Macs I have installed it on.

Any dice?

Also, when I use spotlight, it doesn't find simple files and apps, such as "system preferences"... what gives?

This is where you now need to specify Snow Leopard or Leopard.
Disk Utility is ultimately going to prevent you from being able to repair permissions so try a PRAM reset and SMC reset. I am unsure if you're on a notebook or what.
