So here's the problem: Starting perhaps 2 or 3 months ago my Mid-2009 MacBook Pro got really slow in OS X (I had it set to dual-boot into Windows 7). I thought "no problem, I'll just use Windows and deal with the problem when it gets worse." Yesterday the time finally came when I had to deal with the problem, Windows is no longer booting.
I got out an external disk with 10.6 loaded and ran a DU check on the internal drive (on the Mac partition), and it determined that I had to do a repair. The disk was irreparable by DU so I had Diskwarrior rebuild the partition. After rebooting to check if the rebuild fixed the problem, the
appeared without the spinning spoke and after a few seconds, a kernel panic (the "please reboot" bit) came up. On a verbose boot, I got the following error (this is what OS X told me after booting into the 10.6 external drive):
I've no idea what the addresses mean (0x*), but it appears it could be a problem in the OS X installation? I'd appreciate any help decoding this and ideas for plausible solutions, as I am not much good at reading this stuff. I'm running the 10.7 Dev Preview, which I don't believe to be the source of any problems, as the other computer I've installed it on has no issues. This is not this laptop's first encounter with this type of problem, but as it is now out of warranty, I'd like to fix the problem myself if possible.
Apologies for the excessively long post and thanks for taking the time to read it,
