I am running a dual-boot Win7 / 10.6.3 MBP 2.4ghz dual core with 4g ram and a >40 old 750g Seagate hard drive.
I've been having directory and permission errors on my internal AND two external hard drives, as well as some unusual hitching and lockups in Windows.
I finally got my externals all straightened out, and they seem to be fine. Started having permission problems (again) with the internal drive, so I launched DiskWarrior to handle that. After a scan, it tells me that I am experiencing hard drive failure and that I need to replace the drive ASAP.
Just for fun, I tell it to repair the directory errors that it found, and it reports that it did. I reboot, run DW again, and this time it tells me that everything is fine. Disk Utility likewise reports that the drive is fine.
Yesterday, I formatted the internal hard drive and did a clean install of Snow Leopard then Windows 7 - nothing from clones. Once again I am experiencing errors on the Win 7 side (including a "Windows is no longer responding" lockup). I reboot into the Mac side and everything appears to be fine for a few minutes. Then I try to type a post, and it only picks up maybe every fourth keystroke and ignores the rest.
When I reboot from my firewire drive, everything seems to be okay. Despite the earlier hitching and missed keystrokes from the internal drive, DiskWarrior tells me that the internal drive is just fine - even though something is obviously wrong.
What do I do? Anybody heard of a problem like this before?
