OK, this makes no sense to me.
There are 2 MacBook Pros in our loft:
#1 is about 2 years old, a 17" 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo with 4 GB RAM;
#2 is about 1 year old, a 15" 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo with 4 GB RAM. We use both via wifi connection to an Airport Extreme g/b (it's 2 years old--does not have "n" speed).
The older MBP (#1) is on Snow Leopard and pulls down 2.5 MB/s from the Internet; the newer MBP (#2) is still on Leopard and pulls down TWICE that speed: 5MB/s.
What's weirder is that they both have the same Link Speed (130 Mbit/s), according to Network Utility. How can the newer MBP be downloading faster if it has the same link speed?
What's even weirder is that when the slow MBP (the older one) gets plugged directly into the Airport Extreme via Ethernet (with its wifi turned off), it's STILL poking along at 2.5 MB/s down. And then when we bypass the Airport Extreme completely by turning it off, and plugging the older MBP directly into the cable modem, it's STILL crawling along at that same slow speed.
Our ISP provider is Cablevision, and our wifi network password gets changed frequently and is something like 30 characters long.
Any information or suggestions REALLY appreciated!
Thanks.
