Dispatched optical Drive Connector - any issues?

Hi guys.

Because of an annoying sound out of my SuperDrive when I am (hard-)clicking on my trackpad I have to have a CD inside all the time. (Sounds weird, but that's not the point of discussion) I usually never need my optical drive so I decided to dispatch it to avoid annoying loading times.

Can a dispatched S-ATA connector (optical drive) cause any (long term)issues?
