We would only know the answer if we knew what sort of monitor you were using, and the plug it has. The one you have linked to is for VGA (a small-ish 15-pin connector). Once we have some of that information we can better answer your question.

I would personally recommend the MiniDVI to VGA adapter rather than the Minidisplay port, but yes either will work as long as your monitor is a CRT and using VGA.

As long as your monitor is using VGA. Whether it's a CRT or not has nothing to do with it. Yes, DVI has better signal quality, but VGA will still work just fine.
 
Yes the adapter suits your need because your monitor uses a D-Sub connector.
