Display Blackened

Okay so I was texting my friend, and there was nothing else in my multitasking. Then all of a sudden I receive a text and I watch my display fade away. Since then I haven't been able to see anything. I can, however, see when it's on because the backlight turns on, but none of the display.

So far I have restarted the phone a few times, and I'm attempting a restore right now.

Has this happened to anyone? I don't know if it will work after the restore or if I have to get it replaced.

EDIT: I wan't able to complete the restore because my phone got extremely hot on the right side, and I was too afraid to keep it plugged into the computer.

Take it in, really hot with low backlight says something is wrong.

Definitely take it to the Apple store. You have a faulty phone.

I went to a Verizon Wireless store (because it's closer than the Apple Store) and the guy said something inside the phone shorted out. I don't know why this happened almost four months after using it, but it did. If anyone else knows of any details about this problem please post - I just want to know what happened

Oh and I'm getting a replacement. Hooray warranties.
