After having my IPod touch (2g) for a year I just got an IPhone 3gs. One thing that I noticed is that the display on the Ipod is considerably brighter. Is this by design or is the phone defective? Yes, I've adjusted the brightness setting on both :)

The phone's colors seem more accurate at when viewed from an angle so I believe the screens are diffirent. Or perhaps it the new coatings on the 3gs.

I don't remember the brightness of my touch being significantly different from my 3GS... I'm sure there was some difference, but it definitely wasn't a large one. Do you have autobrightness turned off? I find the 3GS is a lot more aggressive with the autobrightness than my touch was.
