Hi all,

Fresh new 2018 13" MacBook Pro ... I'm having a rough time trying to calibrate the display on this thing, either via a Spyder4 or via the "Expert Mode" in SysPrefs-Displays-Calibration (hold option when clicking calibrate to get to expert mode)

In the last step of the expert calibration, if I move the slider off to one quadrant too far, the screen goes nuts, displays odd teal/green colors in place of where blacks should be.

The Spyder4 calibration (using Spyder4Express) does the same thing towards the end of the calibration, then I get a calibration that turns all the blacks to odd/choppy teal/greens/blues.

Anyone else seeing this?

I did do a time machine settings/config restore from a 12" MacBook ... I'm wondering if it picked up something off from that but not sure. Will do a fresh wipe if no one else is seeing this issue and see if that resolves it, but wanted to see if anyone else is seeing this first before going through the trouble... if it's just a bug, hopefully will be fixed eventually.

Thanks all,

Nick/WP

Update: It only happens when "automatically adjust brightness" is on.

Going to try to do a fresh install and see what happens, will report back.

Update 2: Did fresh install (albeit still restored data with a Time Machine backup) ... issue still persists. Basically, cannot use a custom calibration if "automatically adjust brightness" is turned on. Minor bug I suppose, but a bug nonetheless.

Anyone with a fresh/factory install having the same issue, please report back. I'm curious to know if it's some preference or something in my time machine backup. I forgot to check before running the migration assistant and really don't want to do it again for a relatively minor issue :D
