I'm envisioning the ultimate computer setup for my school newspaper. We currently have a very ghetto setup, 1 iMac 20" (most basic config), several emac 17in and a whole bunch of iMacs G3 that no one wants to use.
The paper size is 17.5in tall x 22.5 wide but it is folded in half so on the computer we work on pages that are 17.5in tall x 11.25in wide.
I'm thinking two 24in widescreen 1920x1200 turned vertically, one for each side of the paper at 100% actual side with room for pallets. I would also like a projector or perhaps two to mirror what's going on, on screen so the whole newspaper team can stand around the projection and discuss the layout design and other logistics. As far as I know the highest resolution projectors display 1920x1080 (Full HD resolution). Mirroring will cause either the displays or the projectors to not work at their native resolution which is not good in terms of image quality.
How would you make this work?
If the monitors are turned vertically, is it possible to set up the projectors vertically?
How many graphics card would this set up take. Two? Since each card on a mac pro has a DVI and a mini disply port (yuck) which can can be converted to VGA or DVI.
Will Displays in System Preferences beable to configure such a set up? Or will third party display management software be needed?
Thanks in advance.
