Hey y'all! I am having a weird issue with my wife's macbook air...This is a 2020 model. She went to close the laptop lid and there was one of our kid's pencil tops that got trapped and slightly cracked the screen. The left side of the display has a vertical glitch which is fine for her. Haha it is essentially a 12" screen now...the issue is that sometimes when the screen will completely go black for an hour. And it's really hit or miss. Sometimes it does it when we plug the charger in. Sometimes it does it when we first open the lid. Just wondering if anyone has had this experience or if anyone can think outside the box on how this is happening! Any thoughts would be appreciate! Thanks and I hope y'all are having a wonderful day!

If I was in your position, I would get the M1 Air from Walmart for $699.
Appreciate your perspective...just don't want to spend another $700...Just trying to find a rhyme or reason as to why this happens on her display...

Yeah, it could be the timing controller, backlight, flex cable, driver, etc. There's no way to know until someone knowledgeable takes it apart for diagnosis.

Easily cracked. Tried covering camera of Retina 12" with I thought thin enough rubber foot. Cdn $750-$800 to repair.

Ah dang, I thought maybe it was something obvious that I wasn't thinking about...
