Got an old 27" iMac (late 2015) which is getting a bit too old, even for me. Thinking of getting a new Mac mini, but I really need an equivalent (or better/bigger) display, so I don't feel like I'm going backwards with the display. What display to people recommend? 27"/5K/Retina. .. or better.

The 27” Apple Studio display is what you want. If you want larger, that’s going to be painfully expensive.

There is a 27” 5K display I made by LG but I don’t see the point with the Studio display being around now

Beside the Studio Display, there's also the Samsung ViewFinity S9 S27C902PAU which is matte sometimes a bit cheaper.
And also there will be the Asus monitor PA27JCV but it has to go on sale.
I also had an iMac and really miss the display, but these options are way to expensive for me, since I use my Macbook not primarily at one desk.

Good point! It looks like it’s at least $500 cheaper so if you’re on a tight budget this would be a good choice. I think the only thing I could fault it for is the base being clunky looking, but I suspect many people don’t care about that.

Looking at that one I found out Samsung makes a knock off Apple studio display that’s even cheaper than the LG. It has some pretty atrocious reviews so maybe stay away from that one or at least buy it from somewhere that has a good return policy.

Following for recommendations as well. In the same boat. 2017 27" iMac that I'm finally looking to replace with a new Mini. Just really not sure on monitors. Would love to keep it around $500 if possible but just not sure if that is possible. Haven't purchased one in years as I'm coming off my 2nd iMac in 18 years or so, lol.
