Hi there
I'm not sure if this is a Philips problem or a MBP problem, but I thought I'd try here first.
I have a MacBookPro late 2011 model. I want to be able to connect it to a Philips Cineos TV (Model number 32-37PF9830/10) that is about ten years old. I have tried connecting the two via a HDMI cable to the TV which converts to a Thunderbolt port in my Mac. The Mac recognises the cable and acknowledges that it is connected to a Philips TV (it shows up as Philips FTV in the MBP settings - see pics) but the TV doesn't recognise the cable. I go to Settings>Source>Cable>HMDI on the TV and it is just a black screen.
The TV is new to me, which I picked up for a bargain, specifically for this purpose, so I could do digital drawing on a big screen rather than my MPB 15" screen.
Is there another way to connect my MBP to the TV? Is there another cable I could use? Any suggestions most welcome. Thank you.

A number of possibilities. Among them:

1. Bad cable. Be sure to get a certified cable. Try a number of cables. Just make sure that you can return them.
2. Some sort of HDCP problem. Tried to determine what version of HCDP the 2011 supports but got no results.

Thanks for your reply. Excuse my ignorance, but what does HCDP stand for?

HDCP should not interfere with displaying the image on an HDTV. I have use a late 2011 13" Pro and early 2015 13" on a cheapie Insignia 1080p TV using a generic DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and cable.
