Hi,

I've got a 15" Unibody MBP and a 24" Dell monitor. I've just recently changed from a DVI cable (with an adaptor) to a Mini Display Port to Display Port cable (from Circut Assembly). This is mainly to clean up the cable mess on my desk (the adaptor is comparatively large).
It all seems to be working fine but I'm having one problem.
Normally when I'm using the computer I close my laptop and just use the monitor.
With the new cable though when I turn my monitor off, my laptop switches to the laptop screen (even if it's closed) and the apple logo lights up.
With the old cable the computer would stay on but wouldn't switch screens, meaning that I could leave it like that with the lowest power consumption and just turn the monitor on and off when I wanted to use it.
It sounds like a silly thing but it makes it much easier for me to leave the computer downloading something.
Does anyone know how I can stop this from happening?
