Display Question

I recently upgraded from the 13inch to the 15inch i5 and I have a question about the display profiles..

I have always used the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and the screen seems washed out. So i tried the Generic RGB Profile and it seems old (if that makes since)

So my question is how can I make all the colors and the display look the best and make the colors richer etc. (for free)

Use the color calibration tool in the Displays preference.

I have tried that but honestly don't know what I'm doing when it comes to that!
